The First event of the Literary Council

ESSAY COMPETITION 
 “RENEWABLE ENERGY – FUTURE PERSPECTIVE”


The “Renewable energy day” was celebrated to mark the occasion of Shri Rajiv Gandhi’s birthday. An essay competition was held on 20th August 2010.

The venue was THE HEAT TRANSFER LAB & AUDIO VISUAL LAB. From 4.45 – 5.45 PM
The word limit was 500 Words. 120 students had participated for the essay competition.

A total of 419 nominations were received for 135 openings. The various nominees were interviewed and selected. The second year scrutiny was done on 28th July, the third year on 29th July and the final year on 30th July 2010. Since the batches were 11 and 15 in 2nd and 3rd years... The various candidates were interviewed at the AUMTECH Hall..

(A FORUM TO HARNESS THE YOUTH TALENT)

ACTIVITIES PLAN



The Objective: To utilize the free time of the students into various activities that would help them in moulding themselves to better individuals in the society.
The Modus Operandi:

The identified activities are Literary, Placement, Cultural and Sports.

Of the 5 working days 4 of them is allocated to each of the activity.

Monday – Literary

Tuesday – Placement

Wednesday – Cultural

Thursday – Sports

Friday is kept as reserve for any carry forward activity.

For the activities other than sports, a permanent hall would be allocated with PA system.

The colloquium would meet at 4.45 PM to plan for the activities

The activities will spread over 15 weeks for each semester. This means a maximum of 15 different events for each council. If a particular event has to be carried forward it can be done on subsequent week/s

The Last activity for each council would be the valedictory function.

The Council:

There would be four councils for the four planned activities.

The Chairman for the MEA would be the Prof & Head of Department - Mechanical Engineering.

The Treasurer for the MEA 2010- 2011 is Mr J. Prabhakaran

Year Secretary: He is responsible for the related public relations of the activity. Prepare the circular for the activity. Take care of the chief guests / speakers / specialists who are invited for the activity. Souvenir preparation (Literary and Placement Combined).
Batch Secretary: He is the nodal person for the co-ordination of activities between the batch and the other office bearers. Main responsibility is to maintain law and order during the activity.
